Webin the grimoire, the best strategy is to use force the hand of fate during a frenzy/building special/etc. Timing and strategy are essential to make the most of the bonuses they offer. I think i'm still in the early game with 28 mil cps, 3 alchemy labs.
In the beginning, clicking is essential. Webclick normally spawned golden cookies until you get a frenzy or building special. Managing gc's effectively is crucial to progressing in cookie clicker.
